London - Central London
Pre-booked drop in service
Our drop-in service is available by appointment only. You will need to register to obtain a slot for our drop-in service. We will not be able to see anyone who has not pre-registered unless you have an urgent appeal to be lodged or hearing date in the future
You can pre-register by calling 0844 974 4000 for the drop-in service. All calls are charged at 2.7p per minute from a BT landline. Costs of calls from mobiles and other providers will vary - please contact your provider for more information.
The purpose of our drop in service is to assess whether we can give you free legal advice. Once you are assessed you will be given the next available appointment to speak to an advisor and discuss your case. If you are not eligible for a free service we can offer a non profit fee paying service (see below for more information)
Our drop-in service operates as follows:
Monday (9.00am)
Tuesday (12.30pm)
Thursday (9.00am)
These times are when the doors open for registration, you are not guaranteed to be seen at this time and you may need to wait for up to 2 hours depending on the number of people to be seen. On your first visit, if you do not speak English please try to bring a friend that does. We will then arrange an interpreter for any future visits.
Urgent Appeals and Hearings
If you have an URGENT APPEAL DEADLINE or HEARING DATE you do not need to pre – register to see us. You can instead come directly to our office. An urgent appeal would be classed as an appeal that needs to be lodged in the next 48 hours.
Please come to our office from:
Monday to Thursday between 10am to 4pm only
You will need to bring all your case papers and evidence of income for yourself and your partner (this will need to be your most recent payslip, bank statements, letter of support, and details of any social security income, this will need to cover the most recent month up to the date you see us). Further information on what evidence of income is needed can be found here.
If you do not bring proof of your income with you, we will not be able to assist you on the day. We will only be able to assist those with urgent appeal or hearing deadlines. If your appeal is not urgent you will be asked to attend the next drop in session.
I don't qualify for free legal advice!
Not sure if you qualify for free legal advice? We are still able to help. Click here for details of our fee-paying (non profit) service.
If you do not wish to be assessed for a free service, or you think you will not be eligible please call us on 020 7967 6099 to book a fee paying appointment. We will inform you of our next available appointment and can also accept payment over the phone (debit cards) to secure your appointment. You do not need to visit our office until the date of appointment. Alternatively we can take payment by cash or cheque and this can be paid by visiting our office Monday-Friday between 9-5pm
Evidence of income you need to bring to be assessed for a free service
If you wish to be assessed for a free service either at one of our screening sessions or when you have an urgent appeal or hearing then you must bring evidence of your and your partners income (even if living abroad)
The evidence you need to bring, as a minimum, is your last months payslip, or your last four weeks payslips up to the date you see us, and any evidence of income if you are not working (e.g. recent social security letters, letter from someone that is supporting you which states how much you are being supported) and recent bank statements covering the month before you see us up to and including the day you see us if possible.
If you are married or have a partner, we will also need to see the same documents for them - even if they are abroad and not with you in the UK,
A full list of income related documents you need to bring can be found here.
Detained clients, deportation and removal
If you need urgent advice on detention, deportation or removal outside office hours you can telephone 020 7967 1299 and leave a message on our answer phone.
Please state briefly your problem and provide your name and contact telephone number. We shall then make every effort to ensure that someone calls you on the next working day.
Please note that we can only see people from our catchment area. Click here to work out whether our Central London office covers your area, and if not which other IAS office you should visit.
