Other agencies

We work in partnership with others in the sector - and we're keen to find out if we can work with any other organisations that help immigrants and asylum seekers. If you know of such an organisation and would like us to be able to work with them then please send their details to helen.long@iasuk.org.

In response to local needs, we are constantly trying to improve our services. This may mean that we change office opening hours, or open up new surgeries and premises in different locations. If you would like to be kept in touch with such developments, please join our e-distribution list by contacting helen.long@iasuk.org. We will also keep you up to date with other services we offer.

Volunteer with IAS

As the largest charity in the UK offering legal advice to immigrants and asylum seekers, volunteering at IAS is a good way to find out if this is a field in which you would like to work.

Giving advice on immigration and asylum issues, however, is regulated by the Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner (OISC), and it is a criminal offence to give advice, whether paid or unpaid, if you are not registered with the OISC.  None of our positions for volunteers will therefore offer you the opportunity to take an active role in client casework.

We do, however, frequently need help with support work, from manning a Reception desk during client surgeries to answering telephones and getting involved on the administration side of things, and are very grateful to those who volunteer to help us in these areas.

Current vacancies for volunteers can be found here
